  • This Earth Day, we are calling on every person and every community to take a stand for clean air, clean water, renewable energy, and the protection of our health and the countless species that share this planet with us.

May 16th – Marsh Island Fairhaven– Bottom of Taber Street 9:30 – 5:30 Armed Forces Day

  • Armed Forces Day is dedicated to honoring the armed forces, or one of their branches, of a sovereign state, including their personnel, history, achievements, and perceived sacrifices.

June 13 – Palmer Island and Bluelane Harborwalk 10:30 – 2:30

With Be the Solution to Pollution, in celebration of World Oceans Day. (Rain date June 27)

  • World Oceans Day is marked annually on Monday, June 8 by the United Nations.

The ocean is filled with solutions to some of today’s biggest challenges and we are taking bold steps to repair, restore, and protect our oceans. The 2026 theme is “Sustainable Fishing”

June 27 – Palmer Island and Bluelane Harborwalk saved for rain date 10:30 to 2:30

July 18 – Clasky Common Park, Downtown, and Pier 3, 9 – 12

August 15 – Popes Island, and Rowing Center 9 – 12

At Aerovox site (any random dates, small cleanups)

  • Coast Sweep – A state wide beach cleanup hosted by the Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone

Located at 2301 Purchase Street, New Bedford, in celebration of World Cleanup Day

  • World Cleanup Day – An annual global social action program aimed at combatting the global solid waste program, including the problem of marine debris, and is always the 3rd Saturday in September. It is coordinated by the global organization “Let’s Do It! World” www.worldcleanupday.org

Day of Cleanup: Sign up/check in at our Operation Clean Sweep headquarters table. Remember to bring your reusable water bottle if you got one last year! Tools and bags will be provided.

OCS Encourages Everyone to Get Involved!

Organized Cleanups: OCS encourages everyone to get involved. Leading by example, we hope to teach behaviors that will result in helping to create a cleaner, safer environment for generations. Operation Clean Sweep organizes a series of cleanups throughout the city from April – September. It is only possible with the help of hundreds of civic minded volunteers and the support of City Services and neighborhood businesses.

With the support of city resources. we are creating a cleaner, prouder New Bedford.
